Service Level Agreement
What it governs
Availability commitment for cloud services and the credits payable when it is missed.
Why SAP moves on it — or doesn't
The percentage is near-fixed; the remedy is where movement exists. Standard credits are small enough to be a rounding error.
The lever
Negotiate meaningful credits, a termination right for persistent breach, and clarity on what counts as excluded downtime - the exclusions usually matter more than the number.
Standard cloud SLA: 99.7% system availability per month for the production version; the credit is 2% of the monthly subscription fee (or of the monthly cloud credits consumed) for each 1% below the SLA, capped at 100% of that month's fees; maintenance windows and notified major upgrade windows are excluded downtime. Private cloud edition and tailored option: 99.7% for production unless a higher level is agreed in the order form.
